The wind howled and shrieked like an unseen phantom. The clouds were a threatening dark gray. Hail, about the size of a newborn's paw, pelted the earth. "Another blizzard." she sighed to herself. A slim, blue-white arctic fox looked around her tiny alcove. It was room enough for herself and perhaps another, but now it felt suffocatingly small. Good thing I went hunting before this storm, who knows how long it will last? In the corner of the niche were a bird and a small rodent, buried in the snow for later. If only someone else was here. Anyone I could talk to. But it's just me. Alone. She rolled over and closed her eyes, please someone come!
